Your vacation to Hawaii might just become a little more affordable.
Oahu’s tourist hub Waikiki is set to welcome its first Japanese-style capsule hotel this spring “inspired by the luxury and comfort of first-class air travel,” according to a press release by Japan-based compact hotel company First Cabin.
Located on the 14th floor of the Waikiki Business Plaza – just minutes from Waikiki Beach – the $6 million capsule hotel project will offer budget-friendly accommodations for Hawaii travelers. Overnight stays start at $120 per night, with a possible day-use rate of $20 per hour for travelers with an early-morning or late-night flight. For comparison, the state’s average daily rate in December was $354 for a vacation rental and $435 for a hotel.
