‘Shark Tank’ Judge Threatens to Sue After Product Injury

Additional Coverage:

“Shark Tank” investor Robert Herjavec jokingly threatened a lawsuit after a product demonstration left him with a minor injury. During a recent episode, husband-and-wife team Matt and Angie presented their company, Hug Sleep, which produces a wearable blanket designed for a cozy sleeping experience. The lightweight, breathable material wraps completely around the user, even featuring a foot pocket for temperature regulation.

Herjavec volunteered to test the Hug Sleep product on set. While initially comfortable, he attempted to use the foot pocket and ended up rolling off the bed, landing on his face.

The resulting mishap left him with a small cut on his nose. “I’m bleeding people,” Herjavec exclaimed, prompting fellow Shark Mark Cuban to quip, “Get a lawyer.”

Herjavec then lightheartedly told the Hug Sleep founders, “I’m suing you for making me bleed.”

Despite the incident, the Hug Sleep pitch proved successful. In a rare turn of events, every Shark offered the couple a deal.

Matt and Angie initially asked for $150,000 for 10% equity. Lori Greiner and Mark Cuban partnered to offer $300,000 for 20%, matched by a joint offer from the remaining Sharks.

Ultimately, the couple accepted Greiner and Cuban’s offer. Following the deal, Herjavec reiterated his mock threat, saying, “I’m suing you.”

This isn’t Herjavec’s first memorable product test on “Shark Tank.” A previous episode featured the company Plunge, which offers a temperature-regulating cold plunge tub.

Herjavec gamely tested the tub on air, initially reacting with shrieks and screams before settling in and declaring the experience “incredible.” He ultimately invested $2.4 million for 12% of the company, doubling the founders’ initial ask of $1.2 million for 5%.
