Whoopi Goldberg Flubs WNBA Star’s Name on The View, Gets Playful Jab in Return
Veteran The View moderator Whoopi Goldberg recently stumbled over a guest’s name, leading to a lighthearted on-air exchange. Goldberg, who recently announced the launch of her All Women’s Sports Network (AWSN), mistakenly introduced WNBA legend Diana Taurasi as “Diana Tarisis.”
Taurasi, appearing on the show to discuss her retirement, playfully quipped back, “Nice to see you too, Whippie, I mean Whoopi.” Co-host Sara Haines quickly stepped in to correctly introduce Taurasi.
The moment sparked discussion on social media, with some fans defending Goldberg, citing her dyslexia, and others suggesting she should have known the athlete’s name given her involvement with the AWSN. Many, however, simply enjoyed the humorous banter between the two.
