Tragedy Strikes LSU Campus as Pole Vaulter and Motorcyclist Killed in Crash

BATON ROUGE, LA – The LSU community is mourning the loss of student-athlete Dillon Reidenauer, an 18-year-old pole vaulter, who died in a tragic on-campus car accident earlier this week. Reidenauer was a passenger in a vehicle that collided with a motorcycle driven by 23-year-old Bodhi Linton. Linton also perished in the accident.

According to reports, the motorcycle was traveling north on Nicholson Drive near Tiger Stadium when it struck the car. Both vehicles subsequently caught fire.

LSU Track and Field Coach Dennis Shaver expressed his devastation at the loss of Reidenauer, offering condolences to both families affected by the tragedy. He thanked Texas A&M for their support during this difficult time, as the LSU track team is currently in College Station for the SEC Championships.

Reidenauer, a native of Abita Springs, Louisiana, was a freshman pursuing an interior design degree. A rising star in the track and field world, she had a promising athletic career ahead of her. She finished second at the 2024 LHSAA State 5A Championships and fourth at the state meet during her junior year at Fontainbleau High School.

Adding to the heartbreak, it has been reported that Linton’s mother also died in a motorcycle accident in May of this year. The LSU community is grappling with this profound loss and offering support to those affected.
