Mother Nature couldn’t make up her mind during February. Early in the month, many parts of South Texas recorded record-warm temperatures in the upper 80s to the 90s. Then, by the second half of the month, an arctic cold front broke cold weather records across much of the state .
After all of the wild temperature swings, everything pretty much evened out in San Antonio. The Alamo City’s average temperature during the month was 56.6 degrees, just 0.3 degree above the climate-normal. But now, what can we expect for March? Here’s what the models are saying.

March is the first month of meteorological spring , meaning that average temperatures start to increase significantly as Texas gains more direct sunlight and the days continue to grow longer. In fact, by the end of the month, San Antonio will gain nearly 55 minutes of daylight.
San Antonio’s monthly average high temperature is quite warm during March, sitting at 73.8 degrees. The city’s average low temp stays cool, at 51.8 degrees. Those are just the averages, though. This year, models are indicating that March will bring above-average temperatures, potentially significantly above average.
According to both the ECMWF and GEFS ensemble weather models, San Antonio can expect March temperatures to finish 3 to 5 degrees above average for the month. That means instead of an average high of 74 degrees, it’ll likely be closer to 77-79 degrees…
