DENVER — Business owners along South Broadway are taking action to combat crime and cleanliness issues by pursuing the formation of a general improvement district.
The Broadway Merchants Association has filed a letter of intent with the City of Denver in an effort to create the district, which would allow businesses and residents to tax themselves to fund additional security and maintenance services.
“Broadway needs it,” said Luke Johnson, president of the association. “We can’t just keep wishing and hoping that someone else is going to do it. We’ve got to step up and do it.”…
