Sarasota Man Anthony Leroy Haygood Sentenced to Additional Year for Indecent Exposure in Tucson Federal Prison

In a federal courtroom last week, Sarasota, Florida resident Anthony Leroy Haygood faces the consequence of his actions—12 months behind bars for two counts of Indecent Exposure. The judgment handed down by United States Magistrate Judge Jacqueline Rateau stacks these two six-month sentences consecutively onto Haygood’s current federal time. After pleading guilty on November 20, 2024, Haygood’s admissions detail a contempt for the boundaries of others that led to this recent rendezvous with justice.

Serving time at the Federal Correctional Complex in Tucson, Haygood first exposed himself to a correctional officer on November 2, 2023. Despite being directed to halt his actions, Haygood’s reply, captured by authorities, was: “I don’t care. I will do it again.” Following through on his word, on January 7, 2024, Haygood summoned another correctional officer to his cell for a second exposure incident, which was again investigated by the Bureau of Prisons. Unsurprisingly, the courtroom refrained from rewarding Haygood’s boldness—instead, extending his guest stay with the federal government.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Sarah B. Houston of the District of Arizona, who managed the prosecution, painted a picture of a man unphased by authority. The Bureau of Prisons spearheaded the investigation into Haygood’s misconduct, which eventually brought him before Judge Rateau to account for the indecency charges placed against him.
