VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – The University of Dayton track and field finished seventh out of 14 teams at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championships at the Virginia Beach Sports Center on Friday and Saturday. The Flyers had multiple athletes reach the podium and several recorded personal bests.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Jadyn Haywood earned a runner-up finish in both the 60m dash and the 200m. In the 200m, she broke her own school record that she had set the day prior as she ran a time of 24.08. Haywood in the 200m prelim on Friday, smashed her PR and broke the school record with the fastest time this year in the Atlantic 10 at 24.18. The junior also qualified for the 60m final with a PR 7.45, which is the second-fastest 60m time in school history.
- Charlotte Deines jumped on the podium as the freshman finished third in the long jump (5.66m). The Mount Prospect, Illinois native finished an impressive indoor season with the best jump in the conference by a freshman.
- Camryn Thompson on Saturday, earned a medal in the high jump. The sophomore jumped 1.65m to finish third.
- Rayana Burns had an impressive Friday showing in the pentathlon. The graduate student threw a personal best to finish first in the shot put (13.40m), second in the 60m hurdles (8.92), sixth in the high jump (1.58m), and was in second place going into the final event the 800m, but was not able to finish because of a serious injury.
- The Flyers had a strong showing in the weight throw on Friday, Anna Yater finished fifth (17.12), and both Jillian Yates (16.49m) and Maggie Hofner (15.10m) threw personal records.
- On Saturday, Bryn Hothem finished tenth in the 3k with a personal best time of 10:01.56. Olivia Kindbom also set a PR in the event of 10:11.35.
- Other Flyers recorded a personal best including Mariya Washington in the 400m (58.39), Olivia Kindbom (17:43.28), and Anna Newkirk (18:14.52) in the 5000m. Cara Mooney set a new personal best of 5:01.17 in the mile. All four Flyers set a PR in the pentathlon shot put Evelyn Albers (11.02m), Burns (13.40m), Raegan Ernst (10.64m), and Mia Malito (10.22m). Malito had a PR day in the pentathlon with a personal best in points (3,216) and the 800m (2:36.92). Raegan Ernst also recorded multiple PRs in the pentathlon with points (3,347) and the long jump (5.25m).
- Jailee Clemmons earned a PR in the triple jump of 11.70m to finish eighth. The junior recorded the fourth longest jump in school history.
