BG Police – as gym patrons worked out, their vehicles were reportedly worked over

Bowling Green Police responded to three thefts from vehicles on Thursday (2/27) evening, reported by patrons at a gym in the 1100 block of South Main Street.

The first was reported around 9 p.m., by a man who returned to his vehicle to find his wallet had been stolen. He received a text notification from Capital One requesting his approval for a purchase of $960 at the Target store in Rossford. He stated that he immediately declined the purchase. The man told police he then received another text message, this time from Discover, with an identical purchase request for $960 from Target. He stated that he was unable to decline that purchase fast enough and that it had successfully been processed.

The next theft was reported around 9:30 p.m., when a woman using the gym reported that she returned to her vehicle to find a door handle lying in pieces on the ground, and the middle passenger window shattered. She told police her purse was missing. The woman told police she had gotten an alert from her bank that her debit card had been used at Target for approximately $1,000. She was able to notify her bank that she did not make this purchase…
