Nashville, TN — Country music icon Dolly Parton’s husband, Carl Dean, passed away on March 3rd at the age of 82. The family confirmed the news in a statement released Monday evening, stating that Mr.

Dean passed away peacefully in Nashville and will be laid to rest in a private ceremony with family. Dolly Parton also shared a personal message, expressing the deep love the couple shared for over six decades and thanking the public for their prayers and sympathy.

Dolly and Carl Dean, married since 1966, were known for their enduring and largely private relationship. They met in Nashville in 1964, the same year Dolly began pursuing her music career.

Though Mr. Dean generally remained out of the public eye, he occasionally shared glimpses into their strong bond.

In a rare 2016 interview, he described the day they met, saying he knew immediately he wanted to marry her and that it was the day his life began.
