Portland spent more than $788 million on its municipal workforce last fiscal year, a nearly 12% increase from the year prior.
Police officers and firefighters – yet again – made up the bulk of the city’s highest-paid employees, comprising 46 of the 57 workers who received more than $250,000, according to an analysis of city data obtained by The Oregonian/OregonLive.
