While growing up, quicksand seemed like a massive threat. I always looked out for it as a kid. Two people in Florida recently validated my fear as they were stuck in an upside-down truck as it sank in the mud. They could have drowned.

Multiple agencies responded to the scene after a truck crashed on a dirt canal road in southwest Palm Beach County, Florida. The incident occurred about five miles west of U.S. 27, just north of the county line.

Two men were in the truck as it flipped. One man was trapped in the cab of the truck and the other was pinned beneath it in thick mud. Time was of the essence as the truck started sinking. Water and thick mud started filling the cab.

The Palm Beach Police Department used a helicopter to bring Beach County firefighters , an emergency medical services captain, and equipment to assist with the rescue…
