HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – 1976 original crew member John Kruse helped launch Hōkūleʻa at Kualoa/Hakipu’u on March 8, 1975. It’s his voice on the Tip Davis documentary, “Hōkūleʻa — Star of Gladness” which was used to garner support for the voyage.
Hawaii News Now showed him a clip of that first launch into the Pacific Ocean. It’s clear he’s moved by the power of that history making moment.
