Minneapolis has been rocked by a recent crime spree initiated by two juveniles in a stolen car, engaging in activities that shook the local communities. According to information released by the Minneapolis Police Department, a vehicle reported stolen from the 2900 block of Lyndale Ave S on February 28th, became the centerpiece of an array of crimes including shots fired, attempted break-ins, and an armed burglary in nearby suburbs.
The situation escalated as the suspects, a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old, pushed the vehicle through the Minneapolis streets at high speeds, making their way onto sidewalks and navigating the wrong way down one-way streets. Their reckless drive drew the watchful eyes of the State Patrol’s flight unit, which then teamed with MPD officers who monitored the progress from a safe distance. The operation led authorities to the 2500 block of Ogema Place.
Upon arrival, the young suspects dashed into an apartment, but their evasion came to an end as officers quickly secured the perimeter. The Minneapolis Police Department commended the collaborative response that enabled the swift capture of the two minors, stating, “Thanks to relentless patrol operations & investigative efforts,” culminating in the retrieval of a handgun and other incriminating evidence from the scene.
