Father and Son Charged with Stealing Pallets of Home Depot Roofing Shingles

Tayde Christopher Newman, 58, and Tyrae Caprice Newman, 34, both of Atlanta, are accused of obtaining four pallets of roofing shingles, valued at $5,683.68, from Home Depot by presenting a fraudulent receipt on Feb. 27 at 1:45 p.m. at the Home Depot store at 4101 Roswell Road in Marietta, according to arrest warrants from the Cobb Police Department.

Tayde and his son, Tyrae, did not pay for the shingles and presented a fraudulent receipt to Home Deport associates claiming they had purchased $5,559.14 worth of roofing shingles. Associates unknowingly loaded the shingles into a vehicle that Tayde was driving. The fraudulent receipt was found in Tyrae’s pocket during a search, according to the warrants.

Tayde and Tyrae are both charged with theft by deception – felony; and forgery – first degree. They were arrested on Feb. 27 at 2:15 p.m. and booked into the Cobb County Adult Detention Center, according to jail records…
