Port Byron Woman Faces Charges in Fatal Onondaga Crash

A Port Byron woman, Kaitlyn Kudla, 21, has been charged with multiple felonies, including aggravated vehicular homicide, following a deadly crash in Onondaga County. The incident occurred on November 3 on West Seneca Turnpike in the town of Onondaga. According to the Onondaga County Sheriff’s Office, Kudla was driving under the influence when she lost control of her vehicle, resulting in a rollover accident.

The crash claimed the life of 21-year-old Riley Besner, a passenger in Kudla’s car. Another passenger, KeShawn Thomas, survived but sustained injuries. Kudla has been charged with aggravated vehicular homicide, second-degree vehicular manslaughter, and assault-recklessly causing serious injury with a weapon. She also faces misdemeanor charges for driving with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or higher, reckless driving, and unsafe lane movement.

Following her arrest, Kudla was arraigned and has since posted bail. The Sheriff’s Accident Investigation Unit is continuing to investigate the crash. The section of West Seneca Turnpike where the accident occurred was temporarily closed for the investigation…
