DES MOINES, Iowa — Thousands of Iowans are waking up without power Wednesday morning because of the blizzard that rolled through overnight.
Residents of Des Moines’ East Village say power went out just after midnight, and many are still in the dark as of 7 a.m. The intersection of East 4th Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Parkway was just one of several intersections where stop lights were not working as a result of the power outage.
As of 12:18 p.m., there are 8,298 MidAmerican customers without power, according to the MidAmerican Outage Map . This includes over 3,000 customers in the Des Moines metro and over 4,800 customers in Fort Dodge.
