ST PAUL, Minn. — A state investigation found an assisted living facility in Prior Lake didn’t follow protocol when a resident died in October 2024, while another facility in Owatonna neglected a resident in an electric scooter for three days.
The Minnesota Department of Health investigated the two incidents after allegations were made about the way the facilities handled the situations.
According to the State Rapid Response Investigative Report, NorBella Senior Living was found to be responsible for the maltreatment of a resident who was found unresponsive on Oct. 3, 2024. Rather than contacting emergency personnel, the investigation revealed that staff reached out to the facility’s leadership and an on-call nurse.
