Florida police are clarifying an incident involving a small child laying on her stomach as her mom gets arrested and cuffed that went viral.
The Winter Haven Police Department said on Tuesday officers were dispatched to a business for an incident involving an armed 29-year-old who got into an altercation with a store employee in a parking lot and fled in a car . A “be on the lookout” (BOLO) was issued for a red Nissan Altima with the 29-year-old as the driver and a woman and small child as the passengers, FOX 13 News reported.
When the car was located the three exited the vehicle, and the man was found inside the building where he was quickly apprehended by officers. The 27-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, was also directed to get on the ground, and she immediately complied with their orders.
But the young girl “mimicked” her mother’s actions, which sparked outrage online when bystander footage of the arrest was shared on social media. One video shows a police dog nearby, while the young girl lays down beside her mom laying on her stomach on the ground while an officer kneels on her back, handcuffing her.
