LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) -A Louisville dance group is breaking away from traditional norms by focusing on movement as an art form. Friday, March 7 through 8, the Ambo Dance Theatre is hosting the 5th Annual Kentucky NACHMO Dance Festival.
NACHMO stands for National Choreographers Month, which was in January. At the beginning of the year, dancers and choreographers of all backgrounds and skill levels participated in various prompts to explore different concepts and movements of dance. Those prompts are guidelines for many of the pieces performed at the Henry Clay Theatre.
“It encourages anyone to take a stab at choreography,” Artistic Director Amberly Simpson explained. “It invites you in and gives you a framework and process for doing that.”…
