‘It can be very taxing’: Some North Central Florida fire personnel heading to South Carolina wildfires

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (WCJB) – Thursday morning, five fire service personnel from North Central Florida will head to South Carolina to help relieve some of the firefighters battling the wildfires.

“It’s still really grueling hard work when you ramp up to these multi-day incidents,” shared Region 2 Deputy Chief of the Florida Forest Service, Patrick Deren.

27 Forest Service personnel make up a Complex Incident Management Team which includes firefighters, safety officers, and logistics officials. Five of them are from North Central Florida which includes Gilchrist, Marion, Putnam and Alachua Counties…
