South San Francisco police arrested a man this week who is accused of targeting elderly Marin County residents in a scam, stealing at least $64,000, authorities said Wednesday.
Zhuowen Yu, 43, of San Francisco was arrested Tuesday and booked into Marin County Jail on suspicion of grand theft, financial elder abuse and participating in a criminal conspiracy, according to the sheriff’s office. Yu is being held without bail due to his “potential access to large quantities of illegally obtained cash and his connection to a criminal enterprise,” the sheriff’s office said.
Yu was found by police in South San Francisco, who in partnership with the sheriff’s office used automated license plate reader technology to locate his car Tuesday. Yu was arrested and his car was towed by the sheriff’s office to be processed as evidence, authorities said.
