Arrest warrant issued for Southern University campus shooting suspect

BATON ROUGE, La. ( Louisiana First ) — An arrest warrant has been issued for a suspect in connection with a shooting on Southern University’s campus.

According to an affidavit, 23-year-old Semaj Joiner is wanted on multiple charges, including carrying a firearm on school property, attempted second-degree murder, and illegal use of weapons and dangerous instrumentalities.

The shooting occurred Sunday evening at U.S. Jones Hall, a student dormitory. Authorities say Joiner and the victim had been communicating through the social media app Sidechat and arranged to meet in a dorm room for a haircut.
