HOUSTON — Houston officials have unveiled plans for a major expansion of the George R. Brown Convention Center, a project they say will transform the city’s convention district and boost economic growth.
The first phase of the 700,000-square-foot expansion, named GRB South, will include a new pedestrian plaza providing direct access to the Toyota Center, officials announced Thursday.
“A lot of meeting space, including the largest ballroom in the state of Texas, which we are very proud of,” said Michael Heckman, president of Houston First Corporation. “It will allow us to book a lot more of the business we need here, which will benefit the community.”…
