That last storm was messy. Snow reports were hard to come by as it was hard to measure with the wind and snow drifts.
Here’s a general idea of what Nebraskans saw from Tuesday into Wednesday:
Most of Thursday will be rather quiet now with increasing clouds and a chance for some spotty drizzle this afternoon.
Winds will be FAR lighter today (around 5-10 mph).
Another round of winter is coming in on the heels of that last storm though. A Winter Storm Warning and Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect Thursday evening/night through Friday evening.
- Winter Storm Warning (pink) – heavy snow is expected, with accumulations up to a half foot or more possible; travel could be very difficult, affecting both the Thursday evening and Friday morning commutes
- Winter Weather Advisory (purple) – rain gradually turning to snow this evening, with lighter snowfall amounts expected; roads will likely become slick and hazardous for the Friday morning commute
The strongest winds through this event are only expected to be around 30-35 mph – nowhere near the significant winds we had for several hours recently.
As for us in southeast Nebraska, spotty drizzle will be possible for a short time this afternoon. Then a light wintry mix will be possible closer to midnight. But light snow won’t begin until about the morning commute, lasting through the afternoon as the backside of this system descends on us…
