Paradise Found: A Family’s Luxurious Escape to The Brando

The Brando, a name synonymous with exclusivity and luxury, has long been a dream destination. Made famous by both a former president and a reality TV star, this private island in French Polynesia seemed the ultimate escape.

And finally, my family of four had the chance to experience it firsthand. Thanks to a media rate, we spent six glorious nights in a one-bedroom villa, a stay that would typically cost around $6,000 a night.

Seclusion and Serenity:

Each villa offers ultimate privacy, nestled amidst lush foliage and far from its neighbors. A covered entryway welcomed us, perfect for storing our borrowed bicycles. A tree-lined path led to a private walkway, creating a sense of anticipation as we approached our villa.

Inside the Villa:

The 1,033-square-foot villa opened to a central living area with a comfortable sofa, dining table, and a well-stocked bar and coffee station. Sliding doors revealed breathtaking views of the lagoon and our private pool.

The spacious bedroom featured a king-size bed and, though hidden beneath the picture window, a retractable TV. We were encouraged to ignore it and enjoy the natural beauty surrounding us, a suggestion we mostly heeded (except for one viewing of “Mutiny on the Bounty,” a nod to Marlon Brando himself).

Across the villa, a converted lounge space served as the kids’ sleeping area, complete with twin beds, a large TV, and a workspace. A huge dressing area and ample closet space allowed us to unpack and settle in for the week, feeling right at home.

Bathroom Bliss:

The expansive bathroom was a highlight, with two separate vanities and a bright, airy feel. Curtains opened directly onto the lush foliage, blurring the lines between indoors and out.

But the true star was the outdoor bathtub, perched on a private deck with stunning views. Complete with provided bath salts, it was the perfect spot for a relaxing soak.

Outdoor Oasis:

Just steps from the villa, our private slice of beach awaited. A hammock strung between two palm trees became my personal sanctuary, the perfect place for naps and reading while listening to the soothing sounds of the ocean.

The large private pool provided endless entertainment for the whole family. And for meals, we could choose to dine indoors or have a beautifully set table arranged beneath our own private thatched roof.

The most striking aspect of The Brando was the sense of seclusion. Looking down the beach in either direction, we never saw another guest. It was truly a deserted island experience, elevated by unparalleled luxury.
