The Bay Area is in for a mix of lingering showers, a cold snap and strong winds while the potential for a major storm system looms next week.
The National Weather Service said Thursday that scattered showers were possible throughout the morning, particularly around San Francisco International Airport and farther south. A low chance of thunderstorms will linger into the afternoon, with the highest probability along the Central Coast. If storms do develop, expect “small hail and locally heavy downpours,” the weather service wrote in its forecast discussion .
Winds are expected to remain gusty, hitting up to 30 mph along the coast and at higher elevations. For those heading into the mountains, a few light snowflakes may fall at the highest peaks, including Mount Hamilton Road and Skyline Boulevard…
