(WJAR) — In a seven week period, 2,621 vehicles weighing over 96,000 pounds illegally drove over the eastbound Washington Bridge, according to new data released by the Rhode Island Department of Transportation.
After months of anticipation, RIDOT began sharing data collected by the weigh-in-motion system installed to help monitor the bridge Thursday morning.
“That number of vehicles represents a very small percentage of the total number of vehicles going over the bridge in that weight range is not presenting any issues with the structure itself,” RIDOT Director Peter Alviti said…
