Police: Six vape, tobacco stores caught selling to minors in Chesapeake

CHESAPEAKE, Va. (WAVY) — Chesapeake Police Department posted on Facebook on March 6 to report recent violations at tobacco and vape stores selling to minors, police said.

The week prior, an operation began at 10 tobacco and vapor stores across Chesapeake. An undercover, underage asset, was used to try to purchase vapor products at the locations, succeeding at six of them, police said.

In each case, the sale of vapor products to a minor resulted in charges under § 18.2-371.2, which prohibits the sale or distribution of retail tobacco and hemp products intended for smoking to anyone under 21. Violators face a $500 civil penalty for a first offense and up to $2,500 for repeat offenses within three years…
