Deep-discount grocer pulls the plug on Webster Plaza plans

A deep-discount grocery chain that last November got the OK from the Webster Planning Board to open a store in Webster Plaza has pulled the plug on the project, and the status of another location in Henrietta is in question.

About two months ago, Emeryville, California-based Grocery Outlet Bargain Market reversed course on the Webster store, said Alan Rainbow of Pioneer Companies, which manages the shopping center at 980 Ridge Road.

“We were all set,” he said. “We had a lease in place were starting to make a few landlord improvements before turning over the keys, and they made a corporate decision not to expand into the Northeast.”…
