Shark Tank Gets Jiggy With It, But Fitness Founder Walks Away Empty-Handed

The Sharks on “Shark Tank” are known for their sharp negotiating skills, but they also know how to have a good time. This was certainly the case when fitness trainer LaDonte Lotts, founder of JiggAerobics, brought his high-energy dance workout to the Tank.

Lotts, who describes his business as “where we get lit while we get fit,” energized the set with a cardio-pumping routine, inviting the Sharks to join in. Barbara Corcoran enthusiastically kicked off her heels and embraced the experience with some unique, improvised moves that had Mark Cuban in stitches. While Daymond John appeared a bit shy, Lori Greiner gamely attempted to follow Lotts’s steps in her heels, and Kevin O’Leary swayed along, frequently pointing at Corcoran’s spirited performance.

Lotts, seeking $50,000 for a 12% stake in his business, explained that JiggAerobics blends Louisiana dance styles with aerobics. He detailed his business model, which involves traveling to different states, partnering with CrossFit gyms, offering pop-up classes, and recently launching an online subscription service with classes priced between $10 and $15. He also mentioned offering free warm-up and stretching sessions and cited Michael Jackson and his college marching band experience as inspirations.

Despite the fun and the innovative concept, the Sharks ultimately declined to invest. They expressed concerns about the scalability of the business and felt Lotts was focused on promoting himself rather than building a brand.

While Lotts left the Tank without a deal, JiggAerobics continues to thrive. The program has gained popularity in schools and has expanded its reach through virtual sessions. Lotts has also been featured on MTV and VH1, demonstrating that even without the Sharks’ backing, he’s continuing to get lit and get fit.
