KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — Over the weekend, all of Knoxville’s parking meters will be removed and the city will install new signs for its new payment system — ParkMobile.
It’s a digital parking payment app that city leaders said would make parking in the downtown area easier and more affordable. New parking rates are set to go into effect on March 10, listed below.
- 2-hour maximum parking zone: $2/hour (increased from $1.50)
- 4-hour maximum parking zone: $1/hour (increase from $.30), 10-hour maximum zones changed to 4-hour maximum zones
People can download the ParkMobile app and when they open it, they can put in a zone number and choose how long they want to park. They can then pay for parking on their phone. The app will remind people when their time is about to expire.
Free parking during nighttime and on weekends will continue in downtown Knoxville, and 15-minute Stop-n-go locations will remain. There will also be a $3 flat fee at the Market Square Garage on Saturdays, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m…
