University of Iowa’s International Writing Program to lose it’s federal funding

Iowa’s international writing program losing its federal funding. It’s an extremely selective program that’s been around since 1967 with 1,600 writers from more than 160 countries a part of it. It’s world-renown and a centerpiece of the school’s global reputation.

Now, its federal funding is getting cut like a lot of other programs, and its future is in the balance.

This is a program that’s produced three Nobel laureates. The cut of almost $1,000,000 in funds is enough that the program director says they’ll have to cut their student numbers in half just to keep going…
