Boulder Driver Arrested on DUI and Vehicular Assault Charges After Multiple-Vehicle Crash on Foothills Parkway

An incident on Thursday evening led to a serious traffic collision in Boulder, and police have since arrested a driver on multiple charges. Around 6 p.m. last night, a three-vehicle crash occurred in the southbound lanes of Foothills Parkway, between Pearl Street and Arapahoe Avenue, as reported by the City of Boulder.

A Ford Edge, operated by the 23-year-old Marico Antonio Arellano-Munoz, is said to have struck a Toyota Corolla, which then collided with a Subaru Impreza that was in front of it. The driver of the Corolla suffered serious bodily injury and had to be rushed to the hospital, while the occupants of the Impreza, both adult females—sustained minor injuries, treated at the hospital. Arellano-Munoz, who was involved in the accident, escaped injury.

Boulder Police officers took Arellano-Munoz into custody following the crash, implicating him in several offenses. These charges include felony vehicular assault under the influence, misdemeanor driving under the influence, careless driving resulting in injury, driving without a valid license, and failure to provide proof of insurance.
