Suspect arrested after stolen truck gets stuck in muddy Spokane County field

SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a suspect after responding to a trespassing call south of Fairchild Air Force Base.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies went to the scene on March 6 at around 5:30 p.m. after a homeowner reported a white Chevrolet pickup stuck in his muddy field. The truck was driven by 24-year-old Brandon B. Grothe, who was later identified as the suspect. Grothe exited the truck and walked away, leaving the scene.

The homeowner assisted deputies by providing a ride on his ATV to the truck’s location, where they found a “shaved” key in the ignition, often used for vehicle theft. The truck was confirmed stolen earlier that morning from a business in the 1300 block of N. Atlantic in Spokane. The business confirmed that both sets of keys were accounted for, and no one had permission to take the vehicle…
