A Newark, New Jersey, police detective investigating a person believed to have illegal guns Friday night was shot to death before he could get out of his vehicle, and second officer was wounded, authorities said.
A 14-year-old, whose name was not released because of his age, is facing charges of murder, attempted murder and weapons offenses. Five people are in custody and being questioned.
