FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – Active Transportation Coalition, or ATC, and AARP Indiana are trying to pave an avenue for change. But they need the public’s help to convince the city to listen.
Despite many people choosing to walk or bike, both organizations believe Fort Wayne’s layout favors those who drive cars. This means they have noticed everything between streets with no sidewalks to too tall curbs. The result is a cityscape where not using a car can be uncomfortable, or even deadly.
The groups met at The Forum in Electric works on Saturday to share their plans for a Complete Streets Ordinance with community members.
