Michael Jackson’s son, Prince, made a rare public appearance at the Sydney premiere of MJ: The Musical.

The 28-year-old attended the musical’s opening night at the Lyric Theatre on Saturday, March 8th. Dressed in a smart navy pinstripe suit, white collared shirt, and purple tie, Prince was all smiles as he posed for photos. He attended the event solo.

The musical follows the life and career of Michael Jackson, focusing on his creative process and preparations for the iconic 1992 Dangerous World Tour. The King of Pop tragically passed away on June 25, 2009, due to cardiac arrest brought on by a fatal combination of drugs administered by his personal physician, Conrad Murray.

Prince’s presence in Sydney follows a joint appearance with his siblings, Paris and Bigi, at a London performance of the same musical in March 2024.

While Prince has previously expressed interest in a career as a producer, director, screenwriter, and actor, he has recently focused on honoring his father’s legacy. On June 1, 2024, he announced “This is Thriller,” a special event to be held at the Palace Theatre in Los Angeles every five years, celebrating the anniversary of his father’s hit song.

Prince also paid tribute to his father on the 15th anniversary of his passing with an Instagram story featuring a photo of Michael performing at the 1993 Super Bowl XXVII halftime show, captioned with a heartfelt message: “Miss you pops. The world felt better with you in it.”

In February, Prince partnered with the Tyson Foundation to launch “The Passion Project,” an initiative aimed at helping children from underserved communities in Los Angeles discover and pursue their passions.
