Justice Department Investigates University of California for Possible Employment Discrimination

Los Angeles, CA – The U.S. Justice Department has launched a civil investigation into the University of California system, citing potential violations of Title VII of the Civil Rights Act. Officials announced Wednesday that the probe will examine whether UC has fostered a hostile work environment by allowing discrimination based on race, religion, and national origin.

Chad Mizelle, acting associate attorney general, emphasized concerns over rising antisemitism in educational institutions. “The Department of Justice is committed to upholding Title VII and protecting Jewish Americans as we investigate this potential pattern of discrimination,” Mizelle stated.
