A deadly shooting at a Guthrie BBQ restaurant has left one man dead following an officer-involved confrontation, authorities say. The incident, which occurred in the parking lot of the Billy Sims BBQ restaurant near Division Street and Industrial Road, took place shortly after officers responded to a welfare check at approximately 12:30 p.m.
Guthrie police, who were called to the scene near South Division Street and West Allen Road, encountered the man before the shooting ensued. According to News9, lifesaving measures were attempted, but the man succumbed to his injuries on site. Authorities indicated that no other injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
The Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) is actively collaborating with local Guthrie police in an effort to unfold the circumstances that led up to the shooting.
