There were more police on the McCallum High School campus Monday morning | Here’s why

AUSTIN, Texas — There was an increased police presence on the McCallum High School campus Monday morning following an online threat.

McCallum Principal Andy Baxa said in a letter to families that early Monday morning, school officials received a report of a social media threat against the school. Baxa said McCallum immediately notified the Austin ISD Police Department, which quickly identified the source of the post and made contact with the student’s family.

Based on their investigation, officers said they had no reason to believe the student planned to carry out the threat. However, out of an abundance of caution, extra officers were placed on campus during drop-off on Monday…
