Owner of unpermitted Lafayette Parish cemetery seeks council permission to proceed

The owner of a cemetery in unincorporated Lafayette Parish who didn’t have the local permits needed before he started burying bodies will, for the second time, ask the Parish Council on Tuesday for permission to continue operating.

Kevin Menard told the Parish Council in February he obtained a state permit to operate Serenity Memorial Gardens Cemetery in a pasture at 2512 West Willow St. near Scott. Menard said he was unaware he needed local permission, too.
