Relevant severe weather tips and information are available on GetPrepared.in.gov and on social media throughout the week. The Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) encourages residents to follow their accounts and use the hashtags #SevereWx and #SWPW.
Time to Test Your Tornado Plans
At 10:15 a.m. Eastern on Tuesday, March 11, Hoosiers are encouraged to practice their tornado safety plans. This involves gathering household members (including pets) or coworkers and going to the lowest level of a designated shelter location, away from windows, outside walls, and doors.
The National Weather Service will issue a test tornado warning alert via the statewide Emergency Alert System (EAS). Residents are advised to take their weather radios and mobile phones to stay updated on weather alerts and to call for help if needed.
