Floyd Central High School briefly placed on lockdown after threat of bombs, suspect with rifle reported

FLOYDS KNOBS, Ind. — Southern Indiana authorities are investigating after Floyd Central High School was briefly put on lockdown Monday afternoon.

New Albany Floyd County Schools Superintendent Travis Madison said someone called the Floyd County Sheriff’s Office around 12:30 p.m. saying backpacks had been placed around the building with potential bombs. The suspect also stated they were nearby with a high-powered rifle if dismissal or evacuation was initiated.

Deputies and the school resource officer extensively swept the building and surrounding area, but found nothing. Authorities then gave the all clear for the lockdown to be lifted…
