FIRST ALERT: Evening showers, nice work week ahead

MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – We’re giving you the FIRST ALERT to widespread showers today, providing for a much-needed rain for our area with the ongoing drought and Carolina Forest wildfire. Despite the rain today, the forecast looks great for the rest of the week.

TONIGHT

The heaviest rain looks to arrive with the final band of showers on the backside of this low pressure system. Embedded downpours will lead to beneficial rain for the Grand Strand as we head through the evening commute and into the evening. We’ll likely deal with the rounds of showers through the early overnight hours before the rain ends after midnight.

When all is said and done, expect a nice 1-2″ of rain from this system. A few spots will have the chance to push closer to 3″. That will be more of an exception though and not the general rule. I also think it’s important to note that the further north and northwest you travel, the less rainfall you will see from this system.

BEAUTIFUL WEEK AHEAD
