Salem, OR — Oregon Attorney General Dan Rayfield has joined a coalition of 15 state attorneys general in issuing new guidance to help K-12 schools, colleges, and universities navigate the complexities of diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility (DEIA) initiatives in education.
The guidance comes in response to recent concerns stemming from Trump executive order and a U.S. Department of Education “Dear Colleague” letter, both of which raised questions about the legality of DEIA policies. The coalition of attorneys general wants to reassure educational institutions that these initiatives remain legal and that longstanding precedents supporting diversity and inclusion programs are not overturned by political shifts or new administrative directives.
