EUGENE, Ore. – A Eugene man who was allegedly driving at high speed before crashing his vehicle in west Eugene was arrested Monday on multiple charges, according to the Lane County Sheriff’s Office.
LCSO officials said a sheriff’s deputy had contacted several young adults with vehicles at the dead end of Royal Avenue, west of Eugene, when he spotted a westbound vehicle speeding toward them. The vehicle was traveling at more than 100 miles per hour and narrowly avoided a collision with the deputy’s patrol vehicle as well as the other parked vehicles and people in the area, sheriff’s deputies said, before it struck a heavy metal gate.
