RVSPCA opens up after $600,000 building repairs

ROANOKE, Va. ( WFXR ) – The Roanoke Valley SPCA is finally open for adoptions after closing at the end of last year for necessary HVAC  and roof repairs. The non-profit cut the ribbon on these repairs on Monday.

The RVSPCA says these repairs cost about $600,000, and most came from its rainy day relief fund.

The group received a $10,000 grant from Raleigh Court Presbyterian Church, and hundreds of donations from the community. After a delayed reopening, the roof and HVAC system have been completely renovated, both which were original to the building that was built 20 years ago. During the ribbon cutting, the CEO of the RVSPCA thanked the board, those who donated, the community and the staff who worked throughout the renovations.

“Now you actually hear dogs barking in the building again. It was so quiet during that time. Everybody’s home again. All of our staff are back. We were working from home during this time to continue to provide all of the support services that we provide. And so it’s just nice to have everybody back all under one roof again and a dry roof at that,” said Denise Hayes, the CEO of the RVSPCA…
