Maryland archaeologists uncover artifacts at Harriet Tubman’s family home

DORCHESTER COUNTY, Md. (7News) — As Maryland celebrates Harriet Tubman Day, Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) archaelogists reveal that they have found new artifacts from the famed abolitionist’s family home.

For the past four years, MDOT archaeologists have been processing hundreds of artifacts found on the land where Tubman’s father’s home used to stand in the wetlands of the Blackwater National Wildlife Refuge.
