TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) — A man pleaded guilty on Monday to stealing homes from Hillsborough County homeowners along with his wife in a title fraud scheme from 2024.
Back in January, Victor Rodriguez and his wife, Michelle Cherry, admitted to filing fake deeds in order to steal several houses from their rightful owners.
According to the Office of Hillsborough County’s State Attorney, the couple forged the deeds and placed the titles of the homes into companies that were owned by Cherry. They then attempted to strip the equity from the homes by selling the properties to unsuspecting buyers or taking out loans against the properties.
